How to Secure Your Instagram Account From Hackers
Secure Your Instagram Account
With the advancement in technology, the cybercrime is rapidly
increasing day by day. Facebook has confirmed that the Instagram account hack
has affected millions of users instead of previously thought thousands.
Hackers easily get accessed to the Instagram account by leaking
the passwords. If you desire to keep your Instagram account protected from the
hackers , then follow the instructions…
Go to Settings in Instagram app
Use Strong Passwords
Pick a strong password. Use a combination of at least six
numbers, letters and punctuation marks
( like ! , # and &). It should be different from other
passwords you use elsewhere on the internet.
Change your password regularly, especially if you see a
message from Instagram asking you to do so. During automated security checks,
Instagram sometimes recovers login information that was stolen from other
sites. If Instagram detects that your password may have been stolen, changing
your password on Instagram and other sites helps to keep your account secure
and prevent you from being hacked in the future.
Never give your password to someone you don't know and
trust.
Two - Factor Authentication
Instagram added two-factor authorization to help protect
your account, and now it's even better. Turn on two-factor authentication for
additional account security. When you set up two- factor verification ,
Instagram also issues you five recovery codes, which you can use if you need to
get back into your account and can't access codes via SMS or your authentication
app.
You can screenshot or print them to keep in a safe place.
And should you worry that prying eyes peeped your codes, you can get new codes
by going to Settings > Two-Factor Authentication > Recovery Codes >
Get New Codes.
Link Email
Account
Make sure your email account is secure. Anyone who can read
your email can probably also access your Instagram account. Change the
passwords for all of your email accounts and make sure that no two are the
same.
Login From Other Devices
Log out of Instagram when you use a computer or phone you
share with other people. Don't check the "Remember Me" box when
logging in from a public computer, as this will keep you logged in even after
you close the browser window.
Authorized Applications
Think before you authorize any third-party app.
There are tons of third-party apps that ask you to get
access to your Instagram data, like an app that schedules Instagram posts for
you. So before agreeing to let one access your data, factor in that the more
companies that have private information about you, the more likely it is that
the information can be misused or stolen. Even more important: make sure that
you only grant Instagram access to apps that truly have a need for it.
Log in to Instagram on a browser on a phone or computer, and
click or tap the person icon on the upper-right corner of the screen.
Click on “Authorized Apps.” (Look for it on the left-hand
menu.) You’ll see a list of apps that have been authorized to access Instagram.
Click on the “Revoke Access” button for any app that you
want to unauthorize, and then select “Yes.”
If Anyone Accessed Your Account
If anyone use or get hacked your account can easily check in the
Instagram App.
Using the mobile app, go to “Settings” > “Privacy and Security”
> “Access Data.” On the web, tap the “person” icon in the upper-right of the
screen. Click the gear icon, and select “Privacy and Security” > “View
Account Data.”
You’ll come to an info page that has a great deal of data on how
your account has been used. You can click any category to get more information,
such as “Account privacy changes,” “Logins,” “Logouts,” “Hashtags you follow,”
and so on.
Pay special attention to “Account privacy changes,” “Password
changes,” “Logins,” “Logouts,” and “Stories Activity.” If you see anything
that’s unfamiliar, it may mean that someone else is using your account. Immediately
change your password to lock them out.
