Aadhaar Is Not Required For Buying Sim Cards 

In a statement jointly issued by the Telecom and UIDAI officials, customers can not buy SIM cards as Aadhaar identity proof. The statement also stated that consumers can decide whether to replace Aadhaar with mobile companies or to provide any other identity card. The Supreme Court has said that Aadhaar is not required to issue SIM cards. 

However, the court did not order the disconnecting of the SIM cards. At the same time, Aadhaar said that customers interested in the D-Link could approach the companies and submit their application and other identity documents. After the Supreme Court ruled that Aadhar should not be connected to the mobile number, there were promotional campaigns that consumers would have to submit other identification documents. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) said that such campaign should not be scarier. .
